It is obtained by refining crude oil or by synthetic processes. Used on its own, it offers limited protection, but is combined with additives to make high-performance motor and industrial oils.  <\/p><hr data-start=\"712\" data-end=\"715\"><h3 data-start=\"717\" data-end=\"750\"><strong data-start=\"721\" data-end=\"750\">What are the Types of Base Oil?<\/strong><\/h3><p data-start=\"752\" data-end=\"843\">According to API (American Petroleum Institute) classification, base oils are divided into five main groups:<\/p><ul data-start=\"845\" data-end=\"1273\"><li data-start=\"845\" data-end=\"935\"><p data-start=\"847\" data-end=\"935\"><strong data-start=\"847\" data-end=\"858\">Group I :<\/strong>Solvent refined.
