Lubricants play a critical role in the performance, life and efficiency of engines and equipment. Choosing the wrong lubricant can lead to breakdowns, loss of performance and costly consequences. Here are 5 important factors to consider when choosing the right lubricant:
It is the first criterion to look for when choosing engine oil. Viscosity refers to the fluidity level of the oil. The viscosity class (e.g. 10W-40, 15W-50) should be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendation for the vehicle or equipment. Otherwise, the oil will not flow in the cold or provide protection in the heat.
Lubricants must meet quality standards set by organizations such as API (American Petroleum Institute) and ACEA (European Automobile Manufacturers Association). These grades indicate the oil’s ability to protect the engine, cleaning power and durability.
It is necessary to use special oils for gasoline, diesel, LPG or motorcycle engines. In addition, products suitable for conditions such as heavy-duty, frequent stop-start, long-distance or industrial use should be preferred.
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) approvals indicate that engine manufacturers officially recommend that oil. Such approvals are especially important for vehicles under warranty. Examples include MB, VW, MAN, Volvo, Renault Trucks, etc. on the product label.
There are many oil brands on the market, but not all products have the same quality. Brands that are well-known, have quality certificates and can offer technical support should be preferred. As FCİ Energy, we prioritize these criteria in the products we distribute.
